Abstract :
In this issue of Chemistry & Biology, Bernhardt and coworkers assay the functional plasticity of strictosidine synthase, a gateway enzyme in the biosynthetic pathways of monoterpene indole alklaloids, and the downstream operability of the products of strictosidine synthase variants in the larger context of the plant biosynthetic pathways.
