Abstract :
This paper reviews the current knowledge on the fatigue behavior of discontinuously-reinforced metal–matrix composites at high temperature. The effect of cyclic loading at high temperature on the micromechanims of deformation, crack nucleation, and crack propagation are dealt with. The overall performance of these composites under isothermal and thermo-mechanical fatigue loading have been examined. A brief account of the current industrial applications of discontinuously-reinforced metal–matrix composites in components subjected to fatigue at high temperature is provided
