Abstract :
Fatigue phenomena in explosively welded bimetallic (titanium–steel) plates are identified and analysed in this paper. The bimetallic specimens were subjected to force controlled fully reversed cyclic loading. It was confirmed that joint zone has inhomogeneous structural and mechanical properties. It was found that the amplitudes and mean values of strain in subsequent loading cycles are increasing. The experimental fatigue lives and strain amplitudes were combined in a single graph with Manson–Coffin–Basquin fatigue characteristic of basic material (steel).
