Register, Genre, and Style of the series Cambridge Textbooks in Linguistics by Biber and Conrad is an attempt to describe a variety of text types (registers, genres, and styles) in English, and provides some analytical techniques. The authors include concise descriptions of genres and styles throughout the book, while stressing the fact that their primary focus in this book is on the analysis of registers, which is due to their wide applicability.
