Abstract :
The results of an investigation have been presented in this paper and the conclusions are that the cutting surface of the grinding wheel could be considered as a surface of one element of a tribological pair. Evolution of the tribological process was effectively conducted as based on ground material subjected to fragmentation by one tribological element. It indicates the importance of having a mechanism for approaching surface irregularities of the tribological couple elements which are displaced mutually during grinding. This creates an indirect link between this concept and elementary tribological criteria according to a relation between the average immersion depth h (m) of the top of surface roughness and the counter-surface to the radiusr (m) of this top. It is consequently related to the maximum roughness height Rt (m) or average roughness height Rz (m) of the cutting wheel surface, the average grain size a (m) and the average distance Lav (mm) between grains in the grinding wheel respectively. It has been concluded in the experimental research that the grinding forces Ft (N) and Fn (N) and the energy-intensity material removal rate KE (mm3\J) are dependent on cutting wheel surface roughness parameters.
