Abstract :
Two kinds of methods are generally used to determine bending deflection of spiral bevel gear teeth: the first method is based on FEM (Finite Element Method) computations, which require relatively long calculation time, while the second one uses interpolation functions, having the advantage of being fast, but can be applied only for standard cases. The present paper describes a mixed model, using interpolation functions in order to be fast. These functions result from FEM computations to remain very general. The developed model is illustrated with numerical examples to compare with FEM computations. The comparison approves that the results are very accurate. The method can be used in order to solve the problem of spiral bevel gear load sharing in quasi-static state.
