Abstract :
Shear horizontally polarized acoustic plate modes (SHPAPM) were used for the detection of water pollution with engine oil. The changes in the SHPAPM attenuation caused by presence of the pollutant film on the water surface were monitored. Excellent sensitivity and reproducibility was achieved by this method.
