Abstract :
This paper deals with the design, fabrication and test of a rotating-flux-type low-Tc superconducting (LTS) power supply. The operating current of the LTS power supply is designed to be 900 A for a rotational speed of 120 rpm. This power supply system consists of two exciters, a rotor, a stator, and an LTS load magnet. The discrete-foil-type LTS power supply has four separated niobium (Nb) foils attached to the inner surface of the stator. The experiment uses a 1.81 mH LTS load magnet and a maximum 40 A DC exciter current. In this experiment, the maximum pumping-up current attained was about 900 A.
