AC losses in YBCO conductors subjected to tensile stresses Original Research Article

We developed equipment to measure AC losses in HTS superconductors subjected to tensile stresses and measured stress dependence of the transport current losses Qt, magnetization losses Qm and total losses Qtotal in IBAD/CVD and IBAD/PLD YBCO conductors. It was shown by our experiment in the range of stress up to 1–1.1 GPa for YBCO conductors that the stress dependences of Qt, Qm and Qtotal can be predicted by those values at zero stress and stress dependent critical current.
