Abstract :
Brain injury in methanol toxicity that can be ischemic, necrotic or hemorrhagic in nature, most commonly affects the putamenal area bilaterally but also can be seen in other sites. In this report, we describe a 22-year-old intoxicated patient who had developed epidural hematoma after hemodialysis. Heparinization during hemodialysis may contribute to brain hemorrhagic complication in methanol poisoning. Also, positive history of head trauma may raise the incidence of post hemodialysis hemorrhagic brain insults. It seems that heparin free dialysis or peritoneal dialysis can be a good option in these situations.
