Mechanical features of biocomposites containing porous corundum grains

Biocomposites were manufactured with dispersed porous corundum grains in various matrices (phosphate and borate cements, bioglass, PMMA and PLA). Their mechanical properties were estimated and correlated with the microstructure. The applications of these composites in orthopaedics are also suggested.
