Finite-element simulation of large plastic deformation

This paper reviews applications of the rigid–plastic finite-element approach to the simulation of metal forming processes involving large plastic deformation. A brief description of the model is given and examples of recent applications of the model are discussed. The difficulties and problems that still have to be solved are indicated.
