Present and future developments of metal forming: selected examples

This contribution deals with trends in the field of metal forming based on selected examples of new techniques such as the vault structuring of sheet metals and tubes, the hydraulic bulging of tubes, thixoforming, or numerically controlled axial cross-rolling, and new techniques for producing dies such as laser-cutting or stereolithography, as well as new equipment such as mechanical–hydraulic hybrid presses or presses driven by non-circular change gears.
