Abstract :
The paper presents a methodology enabling the accurate representation of iron losses in magnetic cores for a frequency range up to 10 kHz. The classical subdivision of iron losses into hysteresis and eddy current phenomena has been adopted. Hysteresis losses are calculated by means of a conveniently modified Preisach–Neel model representation while iron losses are taken into account through a Foster II equivalent circuit representation of the lamination. A final equivalent circuit of sufficient accuracy, combining both hysteresis and eddy current losses contributions is proposed. The model validity has been checked using an Epstein experimental set-up.
