Abstract
Recently, it has been found that some mechanically alloyed (MA) aluminum alloys exhibit superplasticity at higher strain rates of more than 1 s−1. In general, metallic powders are used as raw materials in the development of superplastic alloys by the MA methods. Powder material is generally more expensive than ingot material MA by vibratory ball mill was conducted using comparatively cheap Al foil material under various milling time conditions. The properties of the MA materials were investigated by tensile tests in several strain rates. As a result, high-speed superplastic material was obtained in a quarter of the milling time and at 16% of the cost required to develop the same qualities using Al powder.
