  • Abstract
In this paper, the process of the cold-power spinning of Ti–15–3 (Ti–15V–3A1–3Cr–3Sn) alloy is studied by experiment. Three methods are adopted to the prepared billets for cold-power spinning. Experiments show that it is very effective to backward extrude under isothermal conditions for Ti–15–3 alloy. This can improve the microstructure of the billet and avoid cracking during the cold spinning of Ti–15–3 alloy. After the first spinning pass and solution heat treatment, material crystals are refined and the reduction rate range of spinning extends in the later spinning passes. The billet becomes increasingly more easy to spin with increase in the number of spinning passes. In addition, a large feed rate and a small radius of the roller’s rounded corner should be adopted in order to avoid diameter growth during the cold-power spinning of Ti–15–3 alloy.
