Abstract
This paper is a report of an investigation made to study the effect of zircon particles on the corrosion behaviour of ZA-27 alloy-based composite materials using the weight loss method. The corrodant used was fresh 1 N HCl solution. The duration of the test was 12–60 h in steps of 12 h. In each test, the corrosion rate was found to decrease with time, probably due to the presence of aluminium in the zinc alloy. As the zircon content in the material was increased, the composite became more corrosion resistant.
