An arbitrary waveform control system for a precise spot-welding power source

The hardware and software of a developed 8098 single-chip microcomputer-controlled Mosfet precise spot-welding power source are introduced in the paper. The power source can be used in the precise spot-welding of a bridge band and other items such as metallic foil and wire. It can deliver an arbitrary special and complex current waveform by accurate control of the instantaneous value of the current. This enables workpieces with different dimensions and material to be welded with the optimum current waveform. Practical welding production has shown that the power source can meet the strict requirements of high-quality bridge-band spot-welding, and that it is an ideal precise spot-welding power source.
