Abstract :
This paper is designed to establish a generalized approach to investigate the instability mechanisms that are involved in the interaction between a rotating flexible disc and a constraining system or an arbitrary interactive force. Rotating disc models with different types of interaction forces are considered and used to develop a unified understanding of the physical mechanisms of the instabilities involved.
