Abstract :
A theoretical model is presented to dynamically simulate the threading process and predict the shape of thin strip in tandem cold rolling. Fluctuations in the process are theoretically analyzed and taken into account of the simulation. The model can be used to deal with the setup of both rolling force and roll-bending force. To obtain the best shape and therefore alleviate threading delay, the bending forces and/or reduction schedule are optimized. The simulation has been conducted based on a set of plant data and the results correspond well with the measurements from the plant.
