Abstract :
This study deals with the application technology of electrical discharge coating (EDC) to improve cutting tool life by electrical discharge machining (EDM) instead of PVD or CVD. This thesis is an investigation of application technology and its possibilities to replace PVD or CVD. The main results are as follows: (1) the EDC tools will be limited to the application of low cutting speed conditions, such as a drill; (2) the worn amount of EDC coated drills is caused by high friction coefficient, this high friction coefficient is led by surface roughness; (3) application of a grinding machine is available under the high precision machining, in order to reduce the surface roughness.
