Abstract :
The finite element method has been recently developed as one of the most powerful tools for the analysis of various metal forming processes using relevant software packages for numerical simulation. In the paper, this method has been applied for simulation and analysis of closed die forging with respect to flash formation at the end of final impression filling. An analytical expression of the condition for complete die cavity filling is also presented as a starting point for better choice of recommendations for flash land dimensioning.
