Abstract :
Magnesium alloy thick plate is difficult to deform for its poor plasticity, especially in high deformation rate. This paper explored a new extrude-curving forming process, in which a steel plate was used to coat magnesium plate during the preparation of U-shape structural components. The results showed that the tension stress acted on local of thick plate was dangerous factor during new extrude-curving forming. The use of coating steel plate on magnesium alloy thick plate can change the stress state and decrease the tension stress acting magnesium alloy plate. U-shape structural components with high quality were achieved by this new extrude-curving forming process under proper procedure and warming-up temperature.
