Abstract :
With the development of thick-film capacitors for miniaturization, high frequency and low dissipation, thick-film capacitors fabricated by traditional thick-film technology have many shortcomings such as limited sizes, low capacity and high dissipation, which have limited their applications in industry. In this paper, thick-film capacitors were fabricated on ceramic substrate by a novel technology of laser micro-cladding and rapid prototype. Compared with traditional sintering, the electrode film and dielectric film were rapidly fabricated in a manner of a layer by layer and without mask and sintering, therefore, capacitors had different properties. The structure and properties of the capacitors fabricated by different methods were studied. Detailed experimental results were demonstrated as following: compared with traditional sintering techniques, the structure of capacitors fabricated by laser micro-cladding and rapid prototype was found to be compact and even without the composition diffuseness between interfaces. Its dielectric constant and insulation resistance are high and the dissipation is low. Obviously, its reliability and stability are high, with higher capacity and good repeatability.
