Abstract :
It is important to address the issue concerning the utilization of fuel in road transportation due to increase in price of petrol and effect of global warming. In this paper the fuel consumption of the hybrid-electric vehicle was evaluated using the urban dynamometer driving schedule (UDDS) and high way fuel economy test (HWFET) drive cycle data. Based on the fuel reduction capability of the hybrid-electric vehicle, the emission produced by hybrid-electric vehicle was found to be only 75g/km of CO2, 1.362g/km of CO, 0.096g/km of HC and 0.066g/km of NOx in comparison with the ESVE (European Standard of Vehicular Emissions) for conventional vehicle with catalytic converter. The gasoline-electric vehicle technology has shown great potential of substantially reducing green house gases compared to conventional gasoline powered vehicle.
