Abstract :
Mechanical properties of Mg–2.4Nd–0.6Zn–0.6Zr magnesium alloys fabricated by solid recycling process were examined in different conditions, including as-cast, as-extruded and extruded-T6 extruded at 673, 723 and 773 K, respectively. Tensile strength is greatly improved and elongation decreases with the extruding temperature decreasing. The strength of extruded-T6 alloys is higher than that of as-extruded alloys. But the ductility of extruded-T6 alloys is inferior to that of as-extruded alloys. All the extrusions show higher strength and ductility than the ingots. Fracture behavior was analyzed with SEM. Many dimples, cleavage planes and tear ridges were detected in the fracture surfaces, which show obvious mixed-fracture mechanisms.
