Abstract
The finite element (FE) simulation has always been the highlight in sheet metal forming. In this study, a novel response variable based on forming limit diagram (FLD) for the FE simulation of hydro-mechanical deep drawing is proposed. The importance of the response variable is introduced and different response variables that have been used are reviewed and discussed. On the basis of the previous investigations, the novel response variable proposed in this study can correctly denote the simulation result for the FE simulation of hydro-mechanical deep drawing with fracture or not. A series of FE simulations for hydro-mechanical deep drawing with different hydraulic pressures in die cavity are performed in order to validate the novel response variable. The simulation experiment results indicate the validity of the novel response variable.
