Event-by-event physics in NA49 Original Research Article

NA49 event-by-event analysis of mean pt for primary hadrons in 100,000 central Pb-Pb events is discussed. This analysis includes application of the Φpt variance-comparison measure as a central-limit test for incomplete equilibration. An extension of the analysis to N-〈pt〉 covariance and two-point momentum correlations is also addressed.
