Abstract :
New methods have recently been developed for nuclear astrophysics studies using fast radioactive-isotope (RI) beams. To overcome the low intensity and low emittance of the beams, we employed Goulomb dissociation with reversed kinematics where the excitation energy is determined by measuring invariant masses. The (p, γ) reactions on 7Be and 8B, which are respectively in the pp and hot-pp chains hydrogen burning, have been investigated indirectly. Applications of the method to (n, γ) reactions have been also performed.
