Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a novel integrated geothermal based binary multi-stage power generating and quadruple effect absorption system (QEAS) for cooling, heating, power and hot water production. Parametric studies are undertaken and the effects of some operating conditions such as geothermal temperature, geothermal mass flow rate, concentration of ammonia–water vapor, temperature of inlet stream to the very high temperature generator (VHTG), and pressure of the first turbine on the outputs of the system are investigated. It is found that increasing geothermal source temperature and concentration of ammonia in vapor leaving VHTG results in improved performance of the overall system. Moreover, it is found that the best results are obtained for the temperature of 383 K of the strong solution inlet to the VHTG (state 14). In addition, an increase in the operating pressure of the first-stage turbine from 3000 kPa to 3600 kPa increases the power generation from 76.4 kW to 87 kW, respectively.
