Abstract
In this work, the experimental densities of binary mixtures of 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) with 2-propanol, 2-butanol, 2-pentanol, 2-hexanol or 2-octanol have been measured under atmospheric pressure, at the whole composition and in the temperature range of 288.15–313.15 K. From these results, excess molar volumes, VE, have been calculated and fitted to Redlich–Kister polynomial equation. Partial molar volumes and excess partial molar volumes, at infinite dilution, image and image, respectively, have also been calculated using the Ai coefficients of Redlich–Kister polynomial equation. For all the systems, the values of VE are positive over the whole composition range and at all investigated temperatures. The variation of these properties with the composition of the binary mixtures is discussed in terms of molecular interactions between components and structural effects.
