Abstract :
The present paper investigates the main properties of the excited states of 118Sn, manifesting themselves in cascade γ-decay of its compound state. Qualitative interpretation of the totality of the observed properties of this nucleus, and of other heavy nuclei studied earlier, is possible only employing the contemporary nuclear theory presentation of the excited level densities and the photon strength functions of their de-excitation gamma transitions.
