Abstract :
The extraction, from scattering experiments, of precise information on the strong baryon–baryon interaction in the strange sector is hindered by the instability of hyperons against weak decay modes. The consequent large uncertainties in the hyperon–nucleon and hyperon–hyperon scattering amplitudes propagate through the potentials used as input in hypernuclear and astrophysical investigations. Lattice QCD simulations of baryon–baryon interactions point out as a reliable way to obtain complementary information to what can be obtained from low-energy experiments. In the present paper I will outline the Lattice QCD methodology used to extract one- and two-particle ground state energies, and present the most recent results obtained by the Nuclear Physics with Lattice QCD Collaboration regarding the identification of two-body bound states.
