Modelling and computing the starting of switched reluctance motors

This paper deals with the development of a theoretical and numerical model for the simulation of the starting of switched reluctance motors. We develop for this purpose a formulation which accounts for electromagnetic effects in moving media and inertial and friction forces in the mechanics system. This formulation requires the solution of coupled problems for which a numerical method is proposed. The sensitivenesses of the starting of such electromagnetic actioners with respect to some main geometric and electromagnetic characteristics are presented.
