Abstract :
Equations for predicting the strength of rectangular two-way spanning, reinforced concrete (RC) slabs of different edge conditions and under uniformly distributed loading are developed in this paper from the conventional yield line theory and the finite element method. The common material and geometrical parameters, normally associated with RC slabs, have been adopted as independent variables in the equation development. The yield line equations are further calibrated with experimental data to incorporate the effect of membrane action, thus, increasing their predictive capability. The efficiency of the equations are assessed by their use for predicting known experimental results.
