Abstract :
Triallyl isocyanurate (TAIC), a bulky monomer, was copolymerized radically with sterically unhindered monomers including 1-octene (Oc), vinyl caproate (VCa) and vinyl laurate (VLa). Fineman–Ross plots to evaluate the monomer reactivity ratios showed the great deviation from linear relationships at the low mole fraction of sterically unhindered monomer in the copolymer as a result of a suppressed incorporation of TAIC units into the copolymer chain with an increase in the number of sequential TAIC units, suggesting the sequence length dependence of steric effect on the reactivity of growing polymer radical.
