Abstract :
A new polymerization method for directly preparing organosoluble conductive polyaniline (PAn) doped with functionalized protonic acid with high yield was developed. Aniline was polymerized in the presence of functionalized protonic acid and oxidant in an aqueous medium containing a small part of acetone into PAn precipitate. Dibutylnaphthalene sulfonic acid (DBNSA) was found to be a better functionalized protonic acid than dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid (DBSA),which is often used, with respect to yield, ηi and conductivity of PAn. Optimum polymerization conditions were studied. High yield of PAn, over 90%, can be obtained using DBSNA as functionalized protonic acid. The products obtained are very soluble in chloroform or tetrahydrofuran, m-cresol and some mixed solvents. The products were characterized with WAXD, DSC and TGA. Conductivities of PAn–DBNSA and PAn–DBSA were investigated.
