Solid phase grafting of various monomers on hydroperoxidized polypropylene

Solid phase hydroperoxidation of isotactic polypropylene followed by grafting of various monomers through thermolytic cleavage of peroxide group was carried out at 70°C. Grafting efficiency was observed to be greater than 90% in most of the cases. Maximum % of grafting was observed (24.5%) in the case of styrene. Graft copolymers were characterised through SEM, 13C-NMR, FTIR and thermal analysis.
