Abstract :
Ultrasonic velocity (2 MHz) and acoustical parameters of epoxy resins of 1,1′-bis(R,5-bromo-4-hydroxyphenyl)cyclohexane (EBr-1: R=Br and EBr-2: R= –CH3) solutions have been evaluated to understand the effect of temperature, solvent, concentration and nature of the substituents on molecular interactions. It is found that ρ, η and U increased with C and decreased with temperature. The negative values of φV2 and φKs2; and positive values of Sn indicated the presence of powerful solvent–solute interaction over solute–solute interaction. The introduction of –CH3 group caused the lowering in the structure-forming tendency of the resin.
