Abstract
1-(Me)IndTiCl2(OR) (R=Me, Et, iPr, tBu, cyclo-C6H11) were synthesized, characterized and applied as catalysts for the syndiotactic polymerization of styrene. The chemical nature and size of the side group (R) influences the activity: electron-donating groups enhance the activity while bulky groups retard the activity. The most favorable temperature for polymerization of styrene is 50 °C and the activity of catalysts decreases with the increase of polymerization time.
