Abstract :
The main aim of this study was effectiveness of life skills plan and health promoting schools on tendency to substance abuse and self-control among students. This research was done through causative comparative method on 823 persons of high school and guidance school students which were selected through a cluster random sampling method in 2011-2012 educational years in Kurdistan province. To collect data, Mohammad Khani Risk and Protective Factors of Drug Questionnaire (2006) and Mohammad Khani Risk Behaviors Questionnaire (2006) that has acceptable reliability and validity were used. These research findings showed that life skills plan at guidance-school level causes to create a significant effect on tendency to drug in girls who are the member of this plan, but there is no meaningful effect on tendency to substance abuse in boys. Life skills plan has no effect on self-control skills in boys and girls. Health promoting plan has no significant effect on girls and boys attitude towards substance abuse, self- control skill in boys and girls and the amount of risk behaviors commitment in boys and girls. Generally the efforts which are done in the case of preventing from substance abuse at high school and guidance school level have no effect on substance abuse, self-control skills and risk behaviors.
