This article aims at investigating the effect of emotional intelligence on social relations quality in a 100-individual sample of bookkeepers (45 males and 55 females). This is a post-event study conducted through applying emotional intelligence and interpersonal problems questionnaires. The research sample consists of 100 bookkeepers (45 males and 55 females) working in the public libraries of Ahvaz city. The obtained results revealed a significant negative relationship between the bookkeepers’ emotional intelligence and their interpersonal problems. Furthermore, emotional intelligence has a significant negative relationship with interpersonal problems, assertiveness, sociability, obedience, intimacy, responsibility and control. T-test results revealed the significant difference between male and female bookkeepers in terms of responsibility variable. The average responsibility level of female bookkeepers is higher than males’. Variance analysis results and regression statistical indexes revealed that emotional intelligence can explain the variance of interpersonal problems, assertiveness, sociability, obedience, intimacy, responsibility and control. This is to say that increase of emotional intelligence can decrease the problems related to each of the mentioned variables in bookkeepers.
