Self-Sustained Fluctuation in the Oxidation of Methanol over an Fe–Mo Oxide Catalyst: I. Initial Observations

A strong and complicated fluctuation behavior of methanol oxidation over an Fe–Mo oxide catalyst was observed under a wide range of reaction conditions. Most of the fluctuation patterns exhibit a periodic and relaxing nature. The effect of the reaction conditions on the fluctuation pattern was investigated.
