Efficiency of pheromone traps for monitoring of the Agrotis segetum (Den. et Schiff.) and Agrotis exclamationis (L.) (Lep. Noctuidae) for short-forecasting

In recent years an increasing number of cutworms has been found in cultivated fields of various agricultural crops, as well as vegetable, fruit and ornamental plants. The scope of re-search in the experiment included the observation of two species of cutworms of Agrotis segetum (Schiff.) and A. exclamationis (L.), which belong to the dominant species in Poland. Monitoring of pests was conducted in 2005–2009, using pheromone traps to Delta with a synthetic sex phero-mone. The aim of the study is to determine the relation between the dynamics of catches and the position of traps in the fields of sugar beet, barley and winter wheat at two localities (Winna G?ra and Wi?c?awice) for both species tested. The results allow to indicate the current methods of moni-toring for short-term and long-term forecasting and optimization of chemical control of pests.
