Abstract :
In Poland pest/diseases monitoring is provided by the Plant Protection and Seed Health Inspection Service in collaboration with the Department of Pest Methods Forecasting and Economy of Plant Control at the Plant Protection Institute National Research Institute in Pozna?. In Poland the Plant Protection and Seed Health Inspection Service provide detailed field observations every year in order to get the information about the phytosanitary state of agricultural plants. The information concerning the occurrence and harmfulness of agrophages (pest/diseases) is collected according to the methods published by the Department of Pest Methods Forecasting and Economy of Plant Control. The obtained results are the basis to present the phytosanitary state of agricultural plants in Poland with a prognosis for the following year. The main cereals agrophages which have been observed in recent years include the following: powdery mildew of cereals and grasses – Blumeria graminis (DC.) Speer., brown rust of wheat – Puccinia recondita Rob. Ex Desm f. sp. tritici (Eriks. ) Johnson, septoria spot of wheat – Phaeosphaeria nodorum (E. Müller) Hedjaroude (syn. Stagonospora nodorum (Berg.) Castellani et Germano, take-all diseases – Oculimacula yallundae (Wollwork, Spooner) Crous, Gams, and – Gaeumannomyces graminis (Sacc.) Arx et Olvier.
