Abstract :
strict field experiment with white clover (Barda cv.) was carried out in 2009–2011
on a very good rye complex soil (class IVb) at the Experimental Station in Parczew. The experiments
were performed on the basis of a split-split-plot design in four replicates. The experimental
factors included the following: plant trimming (variants with or without trimming); row spacing
(10, 20, 30 cm), and amounts of seeds sown (2, 4, and 6 kg · ha-1). The weather during the white
clover vegetation influenced the seed yields the most, which considerably diversified the yields
and the majority of their structure elements. The head density per 1 m2 and the number of seeds
per head also exerted significant effects on seed yields. The 1000-grain weight was the least varied
element of the yield structure. Plant trimming remarkably increased the head density per 1 m2, the number
of pods per head, and the seed yields. The agricultural practice related to cultivation of white clover for
seeds recommends the 2–4 kg · ha-1 of seeds sown in 20 cm row spacing and plant trimming.
