Experimentalism in proteomics

Proteomics offers scientists unprecedented power for the analysis of the expressed genome. However, the usefulness of proteomic approaches is highly dependent on experimental design. Databases of proteomic phenotypes are particularly useful because they help to reveal proteomic signatures. These signatures can be markers of a biological response or can help to reveal fundamental biological mechanisms.
