Abstract
As the genomes of model organisms and humans become fully sequenced, our attention turns to proteomics – the large-scale identification and characterization of proteins. Proteomics is advancing rapidly as a result of powerful new technologies. Databases for proteomics are evolving into knowledge resources, providing a repository for information that increasingly does not conform to traditional formats.
