Architecture of carbon support for Pt anodes in direct methanol fuel cells

Instead of the conventional carbon supports for Pt, the use of supports like carbon nanotubes and carbon nanotubes containing nitrogen has been shown to give rise better activity and stability for methanol oxidation. The anchoring sites (namely the hetero atoms) disperse the Pt crystallites and also contribute to alteration of the onset potential for methanol oxidation.
