Public Service Broadcasting: Sustainability in the new media order

The author looks at four aspects of public service broadcasting in this paper. Firstly, he views the threats to public service broadcasting in a multi-channel international media environment; secondly he suggests strengths of those traditionally seen as guardians of public service broadcasting; and thirdly he looks at some of the strengths of private broadcasters. Finally the author considers ways in which values and interests of both public and private broadcasters may converge in the new media environment.
